Richard Knaggs - What to look at is estimating/ ppredicting asset maintenance (Operations manager perspective)
Prioritisation of assets from an operational point of view
Things to think about
• What is the process? Is it critical to the final product or service eg on a water treatment works chlorination or lack of it would shut the process down.
• Is there a standby? Is it serviceable?
• Is there storage we can run off?
• Is it a batch process? How long do we have?
• What is the risk to the customer?
• What are the risks to the environment?
• Can we reconfigure the process ourselves to get by?
• What is the lead time of the spares or replacement?
• Can we hire something in?
What should we look at to improve the level of planned maintenance?
Review the frequency of visits against failure
Value of item, is it more cost effective to replace?
Value of the resource we use to maintain assets
